Beautiful Blue, with love, hope and a prayer!

4 more blue squares for my
second many coloured blanket are done!

I just finished reading a book,
that was a surprising delight of part
travelogue, part monastics giving jewels of wisdom,
part spiritual journey and all parts loving.
I hope to do a review soon, but here is one that
Frederica Mathewes-Green did a few years ago that
I read after I finished the book that is quite accurate.
*
as well as another on prayer called
(Lent is coming soon for us!) that I am finding
encouraging, on a 'normal person's' level and with
doable suggestions. I hope one day to stock this one
at my church's bookstore, perhaps by summertime!
*
I am loving this book,
I often get discouraged by how weak and small I am
in the spiritual life, so when I find a book
that is helpful and encouraging,
it's a huge WIN in my book!

What are you reading and creating?

Pretty blue!

I am currently reading a book called The Essence of Prayer by a Carmelite, Ruth Burrows, and it is very good. Very deep. It sounds similar to this book, and very encouraging since it emphasizes how the "success" of our prayer depends not on our skill in it but on God's (often invisible) work in our hearts and gift of Himself to us. Very encouraging when you feel to weak to pray "well." :)

Interesting! I'm reading so many books about creating my Rule of Life. I must stop and organize before going on!
Happy Yarn Along Day!

I, too, am often discouraged, but keeping my focus on Christ keeps me pointed in the right direction; leaning on Him rather than my own abilities or strength. (Phil. 1:6!!) xo

Blue is my favorite color, and your photo captures the color so beautifully! I so appreciate what you said about finding encouragement, especially when we feel weak. I am realizing in my adulthood how vital encouragement really is! *hugs* :)

I like that blue a lot.

I just picked up that Wellborn book from the library. I haven't started it yet.
