Christmas in Storefront Windows and the end of it all

These were all taken in NYC,  a week BEFORE Thanksgiving.
I am still at my parent's house.
I gave out wash clothes I knit while here, and am glad to have more time
to spend with my parents; I saw my Grandmother and others today also.
I am glad to see my family....
*
I have heard two homilies recently of how
we cannot stop change, we must think about the fact that one day
we too will die - that we here is only temporary and how we must
be rich towards God.
*
I am always reminded of that when I visit my family.
I will be 39 years old soon, my parents are retired, all will change....
*
I find with all the distractions via technology and such,
that it is a struggle to remember God and keep
Christ as the Centre of our lives.
*
May He help us prepare for His first coming at Christmas
and His second coming which we all await.

Busy visiting family!

One of my favourite parts of my parent's house

My Mother's buffet

Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday!
*
Mr. Husband and I have been in Michigan enjoying
seeing friends and family!
He's back home as work calls but
I am here (have to clean out things I left for years
here at my parents!) until Thursday!
It's going to be another busy week, so if I don't post,
that's why!
*
I am thankful for some good time away,
and I got to see my godmother today at church!
*
And today is a fish day (hello Nativity Fast!) and my
parents are making a great Sunday Fish Dinner!

A simple curry meal!

Above curry sauce,
50 grams worth of red curry sauce that is,
chopped up mushrooms and a red pepper.
Two cans of coconut milk.
Sauteed in coconut oil.
Plated over rice noodles...
Cashews on top.

Yellow Leaf

I so loved seeing this yellow leafed tree on my daily walks in the park,
during late October, early November!
The leaves are falling now, Thanksgiving is just a week and a bit away
and then Christmas will be around the corner!

All things pile up

Stack of wash clothes knitted over the last months

Growing amount of squares for my many coloured blanket

My treasure trunk is bursting with them...

I've been reading a lot:
Jan Karon books
*
I've also re-read and read
*
I've had a lot pile up on me, so much
that I did not even realize that it was a week since I blogged here.
I've not been able to keep up with my blog reading,
so sorry about that.
Just busy, I've been still feeling a bit under the weather, but
I've been taking walks almost daily,
am back to sewing and am trying to focus on this beautiful simple verse:
in everything give thanks.

Beauty in Squares and Papa's Wife

I am still stitching away at wash clothes
and also making more squares for my second

I savoured my first reading of
such a lovely book about a family
with a deep Christian family
and many adventures,
and a very spunky wife and a very strong loving Papa!
*
I also recently read
another fun family book,

Books from the sale in Princeton...

Books that we got at the book sale,
including the last which is a first edition.
I actually realized, when reading the plot online, that this late L'Engle book is not one
I have read yet and I can see that it is more in line with L'Engle's 'adult fiction' with
betrayal, drama and such things.
It's one that my husband read years ago and by the end of it,
he felt that L'Engle as a Christian was being put to the test in it,
to paraphrase him.
Well, someday I will read it and have more to think on.
