Sunday A beautiful Sunday

A beautiful church service today 🙏

I saw various friends at the meal after the Liturgy. Fellowship so enjoyable...

My foot has been having a bit more discomfort. I am hoping that the stiches coming out on Wednesday will help.

I hope to resume work on my writing project tomorrow. I rested a lot this weekend as I was quite overtired.

I confess that the in going convalescence is getting a bit harder. The ability to walk around but not for long and being so much slower it is not easy. It shows ones weaknesses....

The good news is I have plenty to do and our meals are set for the week.

I pray for God's mercy, for all of us.

A Happy Friday

Friday! It was good. I had a rough night last night didn't fall asleep until 2 AM 😳

However God is merciful.

I talked with my sister-friend, my Mom, my friend visited, I got a nice email, texted another friend for a good while (SUCH a blessing)....

We are hoping to enjoy our last turkey casserole this weekend! And I got some more work/research done AND wrote another small section of my writing project... this makes me feel so excited .... like THIS excited: 🥳🤸‍♀️💃🎉🤸‍♀️🎊💃

🙃

I started watching Miranda Mills YouTube channel for the Comfort Book Club on Persuasion by Jane Austen HERE.

I can't wait to finish watching it!

Well I am worried that my phone is going to lose this post so God bless you and keep you 🙏

Today Thursday had some great moments

Thursday!

Well today was a good day I think! I texted with a few friends, talked to my Grandma, called my Mom as well.

A friend hopes to visit me tomorrow. I have warned her that my house is messy!🙈🤫🙃 since I can't do as much and my Husband is doing everything possible...his work plus more around the house and helping me.

Lisa you are right! I am using various ice packs I had slacked on that!

I read a bit of anorher scholarly article. And began a book for fun 😊📖

I folded laundry while sitting on the bed and was able to help with lunch as my foot had just been iced 🧊 🙃

I am beginning to think about gifts 🎁 for Christmas 🎄 😁 and am quite excited about this.  I also looked at old blog posts from Christmas 🎄 pasts and was even more cheered up! I should be MUCH better by then God willing!🙏🙏🙏🙏

Well that's my report on today.

How was your day?

Oh if you want a super lovely happy read today read Sean's column/ post for today HERE you won't reget it 🥰🥳🎂

May God have mercy on us 🙏

Wednesday Beauty Thankfulness and a Prayer Request

Hello again friends!

Ok. So I went to the doctor. I will have my stitches in 1 more week. God willing.

I have been taking pictures of my foot with stitches. I had not been icing my foot as much. Comparing pictures from today verses last week my toes are noticeably more swollen. And one of them is swollen with a "bulge" on one side. Not infected though from all I can see and have been told.  My doctor thought they were fine. However I would like the swelling to go down. So that's my prayer request 🙏

I had an amazing salad 🥗 today from one of my favourite restaurants 🥰

I got to see some pretty trees 🍁🍂 and watched that really nice documentary!

Today was my parents 48th wedding anniversary 💕 I thank God for them!!!

Well I better go...

May God have mercy on us!  🙏

Wednesday a day of hope

First I watched a beautiful documentary about St Gabriel of Georgia 🇬🇪 HERE you can read about the making of it HERE and about his life HERE ....

I am worried about losing this post so will end here.... with this picture of him via a screen shot I did....

What great love he has for Christ and all people!

Tuesday a Beautiful Day Inside my Home

My Husband brought me flowers 💐 😍

I studied more of William of Ockham and his nominalism today. Read 2 recent descriptions and am reading an article from 1936 at present...

It's fun 😃

Well I go to the doctor tomorrow! And I am hoping to get a salad from one of my favourite restaurants nearby!

I cleaned the table for the flowers 💐 and that cheered me up!

I still have to have a lot of foot elevation but am glad that I can walk too!

I hope that the discomfort/slight pain gets better soon.

I got the funny cat card 😹🐈🙃 today and a lovely long letter 🥰✒️📮 which was a real gift to me.

Well that was today. Tomorrow will be the 2 week mark of my surgery.....

And my parents wedding anniversary 🥰💞💞💞💞

May God bless us and save us 🙏

A Quiet Cloudy Monday

Well hello again. 👋

Today has been quiet.

Today I read a a lot of Hofstadter. I realize most of my readers here don't know who he is. He's a secular Renaissance man in many ways, from brilliance in math, computer science and physics, music, languages + translation and cognitive science.  I like him though we approach life quite differently because he is an atheist and most people here know that I am an Orthodox Christian ☦️.

But I have a long term fascination with intellectual and cultural history and he is part of that, winning the pulitzer prize in 1980.

I am trying to track down various ideas and Douglas Hofstadter is part of this search.

Frankly I am more than ever happy to have things like this to interest me because of my convalescence.

It's a strange loneliness because I have to be on the couch a lot and can't be up and about at home.  So part of the difficulty is just not being able to be doing things.

So having things to read is more important than ever so I don't feel low about the situation at hand.

My foot has been hurting a bit more asking your prayers.

Anyway that's how it is.

May God have mercy on us 🙏❤️

Sunday quiet and blessed

I was given some cookbooks today! Fun to look through and get ideas!

I made it to liturgy 🙏 and coffee hour!☕️

I really am looking forward to being better....

I definitely still need to elevate my foot a fair bit.

I am so glad that I have some fun cookbooks and such to read! And get ideas from!

And that I have things to study as well...

May God bless us and save us! 🙏

progress and a lot of reading

I made it to Vespers!!!! Thank God.

Tomorrow DV: Liturgy 🙏 + Coffee Hour☕️

I have been reading about a 14th century figure named Ockham.  He was influential in popularizing nominalism which denies universal essence of things.

I know. Random right?

Well it fits with my writing project research.

I am trying to trace changes in thought about truth and how that plays out today.  Including with how we understand truth and what it means to be alive as a person.

It's more complicated/specific than that of course.

It's my philosophic side. It can get me really excited because I like puzzles. How things fit together.

I found some essays to read DV on Monday.  And a book to consider getting from my library.

Those essays will DV be in part a reward for reading more on Ockham via Stanford Philosophy website (at points it's such tedious reading that I need serious breaks).  Like it numbs my brain.

We had chili and corn bread today. SO GOOD.

I am so grateful that I was able to do baking in advance.

I did more walking today around the house! The gauze wrapped around my toes/on my foot is pulling and bothering me more than anything from what I can tell.  Wednesday I go back. It's not so bad really.

One good thing about my convalescence is I have a lot of time to read and do research. More than normal in my life.

By being thankful for what I have now I am much better than I would be otherwise.

Well time to sleep 😴

May God have mercy on us and save us 🙏

Reading 📚 and Writing ✒️

Some light literature!

I also worked on my writing project. That was fun!  I was doing some editing....

I made part of dinner and was up earlier but then my foot was a bit unhappy 🙁 so had to return to the couch. It is hard to know what the right balance is in my convalescence. Overall it is going well.

I am one week into it now.

Perhaps I am impatient. One week out of 4 or 6 weeks recovery is at most only 1/4th.

Well. Thank God. I at least am able to work on my writing project. I have no sense of how it is especially in parts but I just have to keep going with it.

I wish I could hear how things are for those who read this.  It is easy to get stuck in one's own situation when healing on sickbed and I don't want that at all!

I am thinking of many and of the great suffering that so many are enduring.

May God have mercy on us. 🙏❤️🕯

Reading 📚 Progress, Writing and Healing

I finished Persuasion by Jane Austen! Such a lovely novel! It was so fun reading the letters!!! I really enjoyed it.

We went to the foot doctor! My toes look like Frankenstein cartoons with the big stiches across the front! It's kinda cool. And importantly no infection.  I have new dressing on my foot. It's still sore at times.  I am allowed to walk on it flat footed now (not just on the heel). But no bending.  And surgical shoe when walking.   Next week my stitches hopefully will come out.  Then I will have some sort of toe guard + surgical shoe.  I look forward to walking normally and sure hope it's "better than ever"... right now I still have to elevate it a lot. I can tell because of how it feels (it can get sore swollen feeling when up.)

We did the beautiful Akathist "Glory to God for All Things" and it was a great way to celebrate and say "thank You"... it's the most beautiful meditation on life and the beauty of nature glorifying God that I have ever come across. See it HERE.

I have another new (to me) book to read 📚 tomorrow. Books have been such a help! Also today I worked on my writing project again.  That was wonderful.

I am so glad that I did all that cooking!  Tomorrow we will have turkey casserole again!

Next week I am thinking of making spaghetti casserole.  We have the meat sauce already + cheese in the freezer.  I would just have to cook up some noodles which I can do now.  I could add some frozen spinach to it perhaps. 🤔🍝🧀....

May God guide us protect us and save us 🙏
