Pascha 2015

It was, as a good friend said,
a bittersweet Pascha for us this year...
having just the day before
learned of Mr. Husband's
Godson's death...
*
I thought I should put up some
pictures from Pascha nonetheless...

I am so glad that Pascha is for 40 days
and that we get to keep singing
"Christ is Risen from the dead,
trampling down death by death"
*
It is the best news,
the only news,
we really need to know
and it is saving news...

Beautiful pictures. I feel the joy - and I don't even really know what Pascha is about. Going now to look it up!

thanks for visiting Becki! Yes, Pascha, which is Orthodox Easter, is the MOST beautiful, joyful time!!! Christ is Risen!

Elizabeth, I did look it up (immediately after commenting), and was fascinated by what I didn't know! And I've been a Christian since I was very young - though with very little understanding of the Orthodox church.

Also, I wanted to mention that I was so taken by the pictures that I overlooked the fact that your husband's godson had recently passed. I am so sorry for your loss. I can imagine the bittersweetness you are experiencing.

Becki ~

So glad you enjoyed reading about Pascha! The Orthodox Church is what many call the 'best kept secret in North America' and many of us (like myself) converted over the years and are very glad to call the Orthodox church home!

Glad you loved the pictures! If you want to know anything feel free to ask.

Thank you for your kind words about my husband's recently departed godson. We are blessed to believe in a merciful God who you also know and how Christ's death and resurrection mean that we grieve with hope as St. Paul says in one of his letters to the Thessalonians. In the Orthodox church we also do prayers for the departed, as has been done for 2K years, and that is also a great comfort to us.

You are welcome here! thanks again for your kind comments! ~Elizabeth
