Festive Lunch for the Feast of Mid-Pentecost and St. George

Went to liturgy this morning,
Feast of Mid-Pentecost.
And today is the Feast of St. George,
one of my and many other's favourite Saints...

We had a festive lunch with a friend....
I did not have much time to prepare for this lunch,
as I was in NYC yesterday, had church this morning and before that
picking up our now fixed car and as I was going by cab to get our car,
texted a friend to ask where I could get smoked salmon and good bread.
And she told me of a fancy organic market just a few blocks from church...
And so I bought our entire festive lunch, with enough for dinner also!

Pita, cut vegetables, chick peas and really good humus....

Artisan bread...

Smoked Salmon...

Salad (already had this in the house)...

Three bean salad, vegan deliciousness in two types of cookies
(for dessert), vegan butter of course for bread...

It's a fish day for us this Wednesday because of the Feast
and it was so nice to have smoked salmon as a treat!

We also had prepare asparagus, cashews, and of course
water and tea with the cookies!
*
It was a real blessing to find such great and healthful food
near to church...
to put on a festive meal for a Feast Day...
It reminded me of my Ukrainian family and how they would
make and serve food for others...
*
I hope whatever your day is today that you feel
encouragement from these wonderful days of the Bright Season,
during the 40 days of Pascha/Easter.
*
Our greatest hope is our Easter Greeting:
Christ is Risen!
Truly He is Risen!
