It was such a nice early morning for swimming!
Already then, we were all discussing what was then
the tropical storm, what is at present, a hurricane.
I made pasta (from thawed out spaghetti meat, some leftover red sauce
and a can of diced tomatoes, with noodles already cooked and added
when the sauce was hot and then shredded cheese melted on top of that.
This morning, at 9:45 AM this was the wind prediction:
High winds, but then later NJ went all to red, and then all to dark red,
which I thought was serious enough, being 80-90 MPH winds.
However, as of now,
NJ is looking like this:
That's right. NJ is now in the HIGHEST wind category that the NOAA has.
And that seems to be a category 1 hurricane level winds.
Well, for now it seems that we are in a Tropical Storm Warning
and we will see what the forecast is in the morning.

I wrote this just a bit ago on social media:
Our governor has declared a state of emergency as of 5 AM tomorrow.
We moved our car in the garage earlier this evening,
I filled the bathtub with water, moved some stuff just in case,
doing last minute laundry and dishwasher is going.
We have batteries, flash lights, lanterns and candles, matches.
I hope we keep power, but if we don't, at least we are as ready as we can be.
(If I would have been thinking, I would have brought more ice packs up but we'll be fine).
We also have bottled water, juice, Gatorade and plenty of food.
Plus a gas stove so that if we lose power, we can still heat up food.
Plus lots of bread, PB and the like!
We even have powdered milk...

I am just glad that right now it is only a category 1 hurricane...
of course I wish it to not be even that, but it is less worrisome than
if it was 3 or 4 category, etc.

Of course I hope we don't lose power, as it will get quite hot.
But God is with us and all shall be well...

I am just glad that we are well prepare for emergencies!
I even found our extra flashlights and 2 lanterns so that nothing has to be done
in a state of confusion or urgency... it's all ready and hopefully will not be needed.

Our garage is closed, our car is old, our freezer is jacked up on cement blocks,
the plug for the freezer is high on the wall,
we know we are in a flood zone so we did things with that in mind
from the get-go.

Praying that you all are kept safe as the hurricane travels north and inward. The covers on the D.E.Stevenson books intrigue me. They look like charming reads.
At least being in a city, if you lose power your bathroom still works. We lose power and we have to wait out the storm till it's safe for Colin to start up a tractor and hook up the generator :) We're getting a lovely all day drizzle.

What a scary situation to be in! But you are well prepared and hopefully the storm will not affect you much at all.
