Tea at the Pembroke Room: a perfect & fond farewell to a dear friend

We arrived about 2:40 PM and left about 5 PM.
The last tea with my quilting friend,
one we had been planning on for some months,
though it was God's plan to have us do it her last day,
as we were going to do it in May,
that is before I broke my ankle.
***
It was a wonderful, beautiful, peaceful time.
***
It's hard to describe, but it was like we were
brought to a peaceful oasis where all
was unified, quiet, beautiful.
I loved the savoury sandwiches so much.
In general I love these most of all and would
have even more savoury than sweet if I was planning the meal.
It was so wonderful to be in such a room.
To be served well, on such beautiful simple China,
with silver and white thick large napkins and table cloth.
The chairs, the lamps, the crystal chandeliers, it was all so lovely.
***
For a good while we had the room to ourselves, which was perfect.
We talked about all sorts of things, in a meandering way,
enjoying the peace, feeling ourselves relax
into the quiet and beauty of the room.
***
It was the perfect way to celebrate our friendship and to
say goodbye, knowing our intent to stay in touch is strong.
And that was our lovely tea in NYC at the Pembroke Room
on the main floor of the Lowell Hotel.

I have enjoyed reading your descriptions of your friendship. It sounds so lovely and meaningful. This tea surely seems a perfect way to say goodbye. Prayers for smooth transition for her and you as well.
