Almost forgot.
Lovely essay given to me by GretchenJoanna of
Donald Hall on his marriage with his wife, fellow poet
Jane Kenyon.
***
Also on marriage, this by Joni E Tada about
her marriage with Ken Tada,
really an example for us,
in how love can grow in
really difficult situations...
***
This one on marriage had some good points,
but some that I found almost nonsensical...
like how can an article have some really good points
and then some that verge on nonsensical/not applicable to life?
Anyway...
***
I would rather listen to Donald Hall than some of that.
***
I remember meeting Donald Hall, a year after Jane died,
at Calvin's Faith and Writing Conference,
autographs gotten, a few words;
I even met Annie Dillard, then.
Amazing, I was 19.
***
It's funny how when you are 19 or 18 and you think you can plan
how your life can and will go.
I had a 10 year plan, written on paper.
All I can say is thank God that plan never came about;
now I see that plan as near to a 'might-have-been' that was more from
the evil side of things than of the good (to give reference to
L'Engle's Swiftly Tilting Planet).
***
What do to with our days, with out time,
that is often the question I am faced with
and I am not always very good at answering it.

My life took a very different direction from that which I had envisaged as a teenager. I'm glad we can't actually plan our own futures on a long-term basis.
Great post, E. Annie Dillard? Wow! I loved Teaching a Stone to Talk.
