Rainy Friday ~ home, NYC and pondering blankets

I and many others prayed for my
Ottawa deacon's son N. who had surgery this morning
and for my friend's father's surgery.
On days like this I light my biggest prayer candles....

It is raining here,
since late last night.
My heart sunk when I read about
tropical storm Andrea.

I light many lampadas.
I am supposed to go to NYC this afternoon
for a doctor's appointment.
I could use some prayer about my travel
and for further healing...

Our Basil plant.
Mostly alive and a beautiful green...

The rose bush is still with us,
I really love this one
that Mr. Husband got me on the day we came home
as newly married.

So I have a good number of the squares for
my blanket.

I am wanting to have more colours in it;
would like some orange and perhaps
greens and burnt red.
Basically more variety that there is so far.
Open to suggestions!

It is for a 5 year old boy I know in NJ
at one of my churches here.
*
I am learning to purl and actually did some
stockinette stitches yesterday!
I need to learn this so I can use the various types of
stitches to make things like
slippers, hats, mittens, maybe even a sweater one day.
*
Okay, well it is raining.
Time for lunch.
Time to get ready to try to go to NYC.
Please pray for me and all of us that
no really bad storms come...

Two more done, more to go

Two professional jobs in Ottawa applied for.

Another cover letter is already in the works

and more to start.

*

The balance between rest

(this is a quiet space in my life)

and that I need a job and don't want to

run out of money again

is a constant struggle for me.

*

It must be in God's plan and for a reason.

I remember when I was unemployed for a summer

and after that ended I started going

to the Orthodox church,

decided to become a librarian,

became a catachumen

and then moved home

and then moved back to Canada for library school

and then to Ottawa

and then back to library school...

and then to Ottawa where I still am today.

All in the space of three years;

4 churches in two years;

lived in 6.5 places in three years,

two countries,

four cities.

*

It was a tad overwhelming;

though in my earlier twenties I used to live in three places a year

and fly six times a year;

West Coast-Michigan-New England.

*

Someday I would love to go to Romania

(not to mention tons of monasteries!)

but meanwhile,

it would be nice to either be given the winnings of a lottery ticket

(since I don't play myself)

or a job.

I'll take the job :)

*

Blessed weekend everyone!

Current Life Pictures

The view when walking to church; I can walk to my church in about 20 minutes or so.

If you had told me over ten years ago that I would live in the middle of a small city in Canada, in an apartment, I would of found you oddly suspect!

I like it though! I do not need a car, can walk to work and church and to the grocery store. There are many good restaurants and a pretty good bus system.

The leaves are turning!

About the picture below... a good friend helped me move boxes today. Now I just have to fill these boxes.

Like my Holly Hobbie plates? When a friend who had not seen me in over ten years, saw these plates, she felt they were more like the person she knew me to be, back then. Holly Hobbie plates, etc, originated from a woman in New England. Though I was raised in Michigan, New England is a big part of me. This makes Ottawa a good fit for me as well.
