417 Pictures

I walked by an old building in Manhattan that has a beautiful garden in front of its walls, behind it's gate.
I was struck by it.
That you can have such beauty and yet many, most, walk by not seeing it.  And that there could be more gardens like this,
if the persons so choose.
It really spoke to me, every bit of it.

I am in my library in NYC.
Glad to be here.
I had a really good lunch.
This week is going to be busy.
I took a lot of pictures of books today to review later.
It's a new way of speed studying.
LOL.

G-J let me know if you make the plum torte!
I use only 1/2 cup of sugar FYI and no sugar on top...
***
May God have mercy on us!
I pray that you can have a moment of beauty that
surprises you, like I did seeing that beautiful wild garden...
I need to try to share more pictures of it later...

May Christ save us!
May we want to be His!

UPDATED: Becki asked about the title.
I forgot to add about it...
I was doing research at my library...
between taking pictures of flowers
and many more of book pages so that
I can have them to look at for later,
I had 417 new pictures taken today...!
I know, crazy....
But I was looking at 4 or 5 books...!

I'm curious what the title of your post means, Elizabeth. Gorgeous, perfect picture of that little flower. I can imagine your pleasure at seeing the unexpected garden as you walked by it. :)

I was sure you were going to post all those pictures and I wondered if I should get a cup of tea to sip while I looked at them.
The glimpse of the pretty garden must really have been magical.

I made the torte today!! My friend David was coming to stack a cord of firewood for me. I had told him I wanted to make him a different plum cobbler a couple of months ago for his name day, but I didn't manage to do it. So when I realized I had the exact number of plums needed, sitting on my kitchen counter, and enough time before he arrived, I got busy.

He did not have time to eat any of the torte after spending a couple of hours working, so I sent him home with the whole thing. I only put in 3/4 cup of sugar; my plums were not very tart, so I'm sure that will be plenty. I guess I'll have to make another one for myself later! David confessed to me that today was his birthday, and having just celebrated Dormition, he was very happy to have a cake. :-)

Thank you again for so speedily sending the recipe! I had to search for it online by "NYT plum torte" and found it immediately, also how famous it is!
