Returned from a trip to Canada

The trip began in Ottawa with icons above the kitchen sink...

We rented a hotel apartment suite that was perfect for us at Les Suites.

I hope to write slowly about our very special vacation ❤️

Sunday beautiful Sunday

My Husband has been hearing all about this book on Jacques Maritain.  I discovered him at my library. It's another potential piece of the puzzle that I am putting together for my writing project.

It's super fun 😊

So we are going to be busy with some family visits this month....so if I am not here as much please don't worry 🙏🙃

It was so good to be at church. I was struggling with some things but confession and holy Communion really gave me needed restoration.

May God have mercy on us! 🕯🙏🕯☦️

A Special Book from the Past

I looked up this school. It's in the UK in Suffolk. I believe it changed in profound ways. Sadly I don't think it would give such a Christian book as an award or in perhaps any way be recognizable today from what it was then. The world and England has challenged dramatically from 1914...

Still what a special book we have!.....📚🙏

It Was Magical Because I Was Looking for Beauty

Pictures in order of my discovery of this small beautiful lush overgrown green beautiful beautiful green sunshine filled garden .... in between the red brick building (also lovely) and the black fence that left much room for enjoying the flowers, the lush green beautiful flowers of all sizes garden.

I worried about the first trees with so much bark torn off.

I was amazed at the tree full of bends and knobbly, with a huge healed scar of a large part of the tree removed, severed....

The the flowers, of which I took many pictures, trying to capture the beauty I was seeing as I stopped and looked. And looked, and looked...

And the birdfeeder! What an unknown sight in cement city Manhattan! I was charmed, it felt like I stepped right into an Elizabeth Goudge novel where beauty and sprawling gardens are found.

I tell you, this garden, this beautiful not secret garden, instructed me so much... how thankful I felt! How honoureds to see such beauty!

So few really stopped and saw what a beautiful oasis was just to the left of them, as they walked down the street...

And that was the flowers I saw, the garden that most did not look at, not realizing that a microcosm of beauty was there, standing in luxourious waiting... to be seen, savoured, gloried over...

417 Pictures

I walked by an old building in Manhattan that has a beautiful garden in front of its walls, behind it's gate.
I was struck by it.
That you can have such beauty and yet many, most, walk by not seeing it.  And that there could be more gardens like this,
if the persons so choose.
It really spoke to me, every bit of it.

I am in my library in NYC.
Glad to be here.
I had a really good lunch.
This week is going to be busy.
I took a lot of pictures of books today to review later.
It's a new way of speed studying.
LOL.

G-J let me know if you make the plum torte!
I use only 1/2 cup of sugar FYI and no sugar on top...
***
May God have mercy on us!
I pray that you can have a moment of beauty that
surprises you, like I did seeing that beautiful wild garden...
I need to try to share more pictures of it later...
***
May Christ save us!
May we want to be His!

UPDATED: Becki asked about the title.
I forgot to add about it...
I was doing research at my library...
between taking pictures of flowers
and many more of book pages so that
I can have them to look at for later,
I had 417 new pictures taken today...!
I know, crazy....
But I was looking at 4 or 5 books...!

Monday going into Tuesday

One of the first things I knew about today wss that I was dehydrated. I had delicious tea from a friend and promptly had 2 teapots 🫖 full!

My Husband needed some meal spoiling and I fried him up some potatoes 🥔 and onions 🌰 and that was good!

Gretchen Joanna the dessert was the plum torte! Recipe HERE.

I dusted it with a nice layer of cinnamon!

I watched Perry Mason again. It's like my go to comfort food in a way.

Tomorrow I hope to go to NYC and possibly see a friend for dinner...

So I must wind down for sleep!

It wasa special dinner and yes wonderful to celebrate with friends!

May God have mercy on us!

A beautiful feast day

We had a really good dinner tonight.

I am struggling a bit with sleep because I am struggling with grief.

It was really great seeing friends today.

Church was beautiful this morning.....
