On and on it goes

Life sure can be full of a lot of the same;
looking and waiting...
*
I have at least 2.5 more weeks of waiting to hear about the job
from what I was told.
*
It is hard to keep applying to more jobs;
it is inwardly tiring.
*
One of those days where it feels like everything was begun
but nothing finished.
Making meatloaf
but also Dutch meatball soup
and found out belatedly that I am out of carrots and celery.
Not much to do with soup without these!
Almost done with edit three of a cover letter;
I need to kick it back into gear
as they say.
*
I have enjoyed all the comments about my Akathist post.
I sent some to a friend who read my post
I LOVE information and resource sharing
and who would not love sharing prayers!!
*
One of the hardest things about being in the
in-between jobs situation
is that one cannot just go buy whatever they see or want
even when it comes to Orthodox books, Akathists or Icons;
though perhaps for me I should write Especially when
it has to do with these things!
I haven't shown you all the Icon of St. Katherine that I go while
at the monastery yet, have I?!
:)
If you recall I sold some books for cash and the icon was one of the
things I got in return...
Note to self: photograph icon and blog picture.
*
I hope you are all having a most wonderful end to a day
where you know that God is with you,
no matter what is going on
for you
right now.
*
Again, if anyone wants an Akathist, please let me know
in the comment box or email me
your request
(see email in last comment tread).
I'm a librarian and I am happy to share.
:)

God is good to us and He is with us.

Not much new

My Mother gently reminded me to trust God.
I have been confused.
The apartment I saw. Lovely. Not downtown.
Conflicted about it. Concerned.
Undecided.
Am waiting to see a similar place that is downtown;
so far the differences are the place I saw has hardwood and storage;
the place I have yet to see is downtown.
Trust God that it will fall into place,
my Mother encouraged me.
I am going to seek to do this.
+++++
Meanwhile, I have packed 7 boxes of books!
It is a beautiful sunshine filled day.
I am going to a friends place for her birthday.
I was at Liturgy.
Beautiful.
I am so very blessed.

Answers are along time coming

It has been nearly 3 months since I lost my job.
Time flies as they say.
I am now researching French courses to see if I can get funding
to learn French full time.
I have money coming in through unemployment until the first of the year.
I have heard nothing about the job contract.
I am trying to trust God,
to deflect crazy thoughts
which come
most readily
when I feel unsettled.
I fail and get up again, and again and again.
Tonight I am having a few friends over
for food, poetry and tea.
I hope to have another literary party later,
when my (old calendar) Apostles Fast is over.
My lease is up in October; I try not to worry about this.
I am learning that obeying God is through listening and doing what He says.
Yes, I know, obvious,
but it struck me the other day
as the command for obedience. Do not worry.
Your Father knows...
Prayers appreciated.

Another Day in this Year of Our Lord

Today was my last Monday at my current job. Tonight I am baking a cake for my small group at work to eat. Vanilla. I wish I had strawberries. If I have time, I may go get some.

I bought Indian takeout. Enough for three meals. Under five dollars for three meals. nice. It is a buffet and one is allowed two scoops of everything. I made lemonade, and have hot lemongrass tea with sugar.

It is hard for me to wait to see what job will come. But I am trying to really live during this time. Trust that God is taking care of me and to fight the fears that want to assail and conquer me. I am seeking to FIGHT them.

I am doing those things that are needed for my transition. Baking cake, buying small thank you cards and chocolate to give away, going to church, listening to music, praying, remembering God and calling my soul to see that even now, God is saving me.

Even now, God is saving me.

Nothing Really New to Report

i am doing well -- for the most part quite happy - more than i have been in a while. i've been cooking again and wanting to cook (this had been diminishing steadily before; a sign of not doing as well). i am so happy that i have lived in my place for over 8 months -it has been 2 years since i have lived somewhere for a year; i have not lived somewhere for over 2 years without a break of at least 2 months for 14 years (i started working at camps for whole summers at age 16).

i am enjoying the mixture of new job and same apartment.

and that i am still here and still going to my church is the biggest thing of all.

i read a quote from _Christ in our midst, letters from a Russian monk_ by fr. john (SVP published it a while ago) about not being afraid of the future and not to think that bad things will happen (i am paraphrasing a bit). this is one of my challenges (of course i have others but i agree with Stacy, a blog is not akin to confession!) right now - to live in the present. to not worry about the future. to trust God.

i am so thankful; i think of a prayer i read years ago - about God protecting the joyful - i am surprised to realize i need this prayer. ... at the same time i know life can change in an instant.

Readings for this week emphasized the Lord's will - (at least the old calendar readings; they can be different it seems). to this end i feel i am still to do what i was learning before: to wait on God and to submit to His will in all things.

Wait no longer: the job has been offered

I wrote the post I just posted this morning. When I went online I had an email waiting for me regarding my references. An hour later I got a call, offering me the one year position!

To summarize: the permanent position I was not feeling at peace with. (I have not to this day heard back from them). I was concerned that this job would be a prolonged stress to me and the other job is the one I felt myself wanting. I even wrote in my journal to that effect this morning. So I talked with my sister, my Matuska, my Grandmother and my Mother.

By the time I talked with my Mother it was to tell her I was going to accept the job. I have since accepted the job on voice mail and email. I have to sign the letter of offer and they hope I will be able to start on this coming Tuesday, May 29th!

We are all relieved. I for one feel tired actually. Relieved and tired. No cloud nine, no euphoria, just thankful, relieved and tired.

Glory to God for His abundant mercy and goodness that He keeps pouring down in and on my life...
