I have begun my second textured blanket,
the blanket that I think will be a checkered blanket,
with big 'checkers' as it were.
I am really enjoying it so far;
I am doing it on a bigger needle size (10)
and it is making for a soft draping blanket....
I still have to find a size 10 circular needle though!
We will see if I have luck finding on in NYC today!

I've been reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...
I thought I had not read it before but I have a feeling I did
read it now, maybe the year I was in library school
in London Ontario (so about 10 years ago).
I got some cute shimmery cotton yarn on sale
that I hope will become a pretty
scarf, based on this pattern
(thanks TJ!)
I am thinking of doing it in this colour lineup,
cream, the pale blue, the sea green and the light shimmery brown...

I am also scanning the Tartine Cookbook I got for Christmas.
I have some serious desserts to contemplate...
*
I am posting this a day early as I fear it will not get done otherwise!
With NYC today, it will be busy and I am guessing tomorrow will be
a rest day for me!

What are you reading and making?

Love your new soft yarn colours! And a nice glimpse of the deep teal taking shape :) I have read Joy in the Morning by the same author, but not Tree. Yet!
Knit Picks has some beautiful circular needles. The blanket is coming along nicely.
I didn't read it until my adulthood, but greatly enjoyed.
Love the yarn!
I love love your new cotton yarns! I'm sure it will be a pleaser to knit with them.
look at all of that luscious yarn! Wonderful! I love that book and I've read it twice, once as a teen and then as an adult. Loved it both times for different reasons. There is an old movie that is good as well.
What lovely pastels! I actually started reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn last week, also, but for some reason it wasn't what I was looking for and I switched to The Hobbit. I think I will pick it up again later in the year. :)
I like the blue-colored yarns! I bet it will make a beautiful blanket. I'm still working on the baby blanket I've been at for a while...plodding along and getting closer :)
Love the yarn colours, and that blanket will be so cozy!
Your yarns are beautiful and will make a lovely scarf.
I love A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and the movie was pretty good too.
You have so much pretty yarn! It just makes me smile. I have never read a Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I really should considering I come from NY!
The yarn colors look awesome! And it looks so soft :-) Looking at the dessert pictures has also made me quite hungry for something sweet...I will have to see what I can come up with today!
Love the cotton yarn, can't wait to see what you do with it. So yummy!
I love the soft colours of your cotton yarn! Reminds me of the warm hazy days of summer :)
Loving those cotton colors! So soft and shimmery.

I hope your trip to NYC is a success! That book is one of my favorites. I have a lovely hardcover copy of it that survived my recent book purge!
I haven't read the book either. So many books, so little time :-D
Wow, Enjoy your trip! I really enjoyed this book.
The blanket is going to look lovely. By the way, I love your pictures. I haven't read the book a Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but look forward to!
That yarn looks dreamy!
