Today, Old Calendar

It is the commemoration of Saints Joachim and Anna, the parents of the Theotokos, Mother of God... It is a very special day! Christ's Grandparents.

I am slowly feeling better and have had a good weekend of quiet. I thank God for His mercy.

Thank you so much for your helpful comments about how to deal with my flight phobia! Saying an Akathist and praying to my Guardian Angel is an excellent idea. Glad you're feeling better, and share news about your trip once you're back!

thank you for your comment - Akathists are such blessings! I find the Canon to my Gaurdian Angel to be one that, if I wake with anxiety in the middle of the middle of the night, can help me reorient myself so I can sleep again.

I will write about my trip for sure - it is not for a few weeks - but I will share. Thanks again.

hi to the new poster - well - most people know me and i go to a church on the Old Calendar, yes, but i go to a New Calendar church during the week and read from both saints calendars when i can...

i do like the old calendar but more because i like my church and i like that my spiritual father is seeking to put a spiritual life into our often unwilling souls. and i think it is cool that St. Herman was on the old calendar.

but many of my Orthodox friends are on the New Calendar and so it goes... not to mention that i was chrismated on the new calendar and my Godmother is on the new, not to mention my first three churches in various locations and the monestary i love...

you are welcome here, anytime. and on any calendar! :)
