Lovie Blanket and a Wrinkle in Time

 The Lovie Blanket is done!

It was a fun knit!

I took pictures of it yesterday morning,

a happy morning with a phone call 

with my godmother,

long over due...

I realized that the first corner that I knitted

was not even... though I could not tell when knitting it...

so it is not a square blanket but looks

a bit more star-fished* or not fully symmetrical...

But!... 

It's pink, warm, is big enough to keep 

the little girl it is going to warm,

and is handmade with love!

 I re-read A Wrinkle in Time this week.

The adventure, the goodness, the superb writing, and how love is 

stronger than hate and such a strong reminder of 

a life that is worth living... this book 

was such a good and encouraging re-read!

*I know that star fish are fairly symmetrical but yet this is 

the best way I can explain how the blanket is in the end! :)

I still love it, it's just an Elizabeth-original! :)

Did a little work on my baby hat but

will need some guidance...

finished the little doll blanket

that was a practice run for me late last Spring...

My sock for Mr. Husband.

I forgot how/to join in the round and did a few 

rows all on one needle, as you can see above.

But I am feeling more like I can do this,

in time... but most likely I will just 

frog and have my instructor begin it for me again

and walk me through it all...

I don't think I can do this until after I move as I will have

to devote some real time and concentration

so that I don't forget what I am doing! :)

Excited to keep trying though! :)

Books I read before bed...

Orthodox Study Bible,

the Bible and Fathers for Orthodox 

which has the readings for the day,

and I just last night finished my very beloved

With Elder Porphyrios: A spiritual child remembers

which was such a life-giving book

that I am sure to revisit and that

I can't say enough about:

one of my top reads for this year, without doubt.

Written with such sensitivity and 

with a way that brings us in and gives us great hope

for ourselves in Christ.

We've been having a beautiful Bright Week!

Perhaps this week is known in the 

West as Easter Week or Eastertide...

here's our Bright Monday table:

the term Paschal season comes from)...

Lovie Pink Blanket for a very loved child

I recently heard that my 

longest-time friend's youngest baby

is ill with a cancer,

we are hoping for the 90% success rate and that

the chemo etc will not make her too ill, etc.

I am far away, 

in the middle of planning a move to our new home

and less than a week from Holy Week...

So the best and only things I can do are

prayer and knitting a small lovie blanket for this dear young girl. 

It is knitting up quickly.

I am doing it as simple as I know how:

start with three stitches and increase until it is the size desired

and then decrease until it is finished.

The yarn is Lion Brand's Fairy Tale and it the prefect pink...

Still loving this book on St. Porphyrios.

Reading these books is showing me in deep 

and real, practical ways how we must

love and be gentle with everyone...

I am also re-reading 

A Wind in the Door by Madeline L 'Engle.

Perfect low stress reading...

which is needed about now...

we had a mover try to say that we should start packing today!

We hope to move a bit before Memorial Day and 

we are NOT in anyway packing during Holy Week or Pascha! (Easter)!

The Holy Week is the best week of the year!!!

Well, I am also not going to stop knitting and 

hope to finish this blanket in the next weeks,

it's a great one to knit while in the car with Mr. Husband 

driving us to church...
