Waiting, Documenting and Seeking Thankfulness

A dark picture but shows the window... by our dining room
area...

Same wall has our beloved kitchen window...

We already had brought in suitcases for the move
and boxes for our dishes...

The idea is that when my parents come
to help us with the painting and handyman work
we will bring half of our normal dishes to them to use,
as they will be in our new condo getting it ready
while we stay here and get things ready for the move.
*
That was all going to start this coming week
means that we have no idea when exactly we will move.

The place we are in now only has windows on one wall.
Our new place DV will have windows on three sides!
Sadly, not on the kitchen side...

I was so excited to have laundry in the place we are in now.
The new place is even better; a little laundry room
and a much better washer/dryer!

I love these icons that are in our hallway.
Not sure where they will go in the new place,
but somewhere with honour and accessibility...

Our shared office; we never had a chance to make it
better but have plans and dreams for a much better office
in our new place...
We also will have better windows and will not
need a make shift curtain over the window
to block out the sun's hot rays...

We hope to have a good icon area in our bedroom again...
Many things we hope...
*
We don't have any idea on when we will move now.
Thankfully my parents can come later
if we need to, we can stay a bit later in this place.

Monday ~ Sunshine, tired and knitting progress

Well,
here we are again.
Jelly-tired legs,
sunshine,
flowers,
knitting.

Baby blanket progress!
I need to order more baby wool soon...

I finished two scarves.
A small knit scarf for a niece.
Another Christmas gift for one of my guy relatives.
Mr. Husband tried it on and it looked great
and I am quite pleased.

I started knitting yet another scarf.
Yep. Everyone is getting scarves this year!
This one is for an older niece who I think
of as a nice bright soft blue.
I love this yarn and going to need to order more.

After being home all day yesterday
Mr. Husband and I went for a small walk.
On this walk I spied a small posy of dogwood flowers.
Perfect for our icon corner,
for the Mother of God.

So Mr. Husband and I planned out
our weeks in hope that I can make it through
Holy Week.
*
I should of paid more attention to my
tired-out fading signs last week.
I guess I am a slow learner.

Mr. Husband bought me this small new rose bush.
I told him I want to transport this kitchen ledge
where ever we live in the future
(we know we will not be forever in this lovely
first home).

Resting up in hopes that I can bake later.

Some of me wonders if one of the reasons
I am continually ill right now
since getting
the mono
is that I went through some really challenging years
and then left my beloved home in Ottawa
and am going through an adjustment period that
involves a lot of transition, some grief, lots of learning
and a lot of energy.
It's a lot to move and have to start over.
*
I've been thinking about the
building of the house of one's soul
a lot lately and it is making a lot of sense to me.
I wonder if some of what I had in me was so
based in where I was that when I moved
some of the moorings and walls could not but
break down.
But I feel like the foundation itself is still there,
though I do not have the discernment to know
how intact or how well.
*
I am thankful that today I can rest.

Sunny Wednesday in Mid-October

Finally I am getting the library part
of our bedroom
in order.
So good to see more of my icons again...

Some of my special Ortho-books
and beautiful box for candles,
a thoughtful wedding gift from
one of my cousins.

Cross found in an antique and
collectibles store
on our honeymoon.

St. Irene of Chrysovalantou
my chrismation patron Saint
(though not my name's Saint)...
*
This icon is from my church
and is very special to me...

Mother Alexandra
behind her are my Romanian Orthodox books...

Icon of Christ from Romania
Pochav Icon of the Mother of God
from an Ottawa icongrapher.
*
It is good to see my familiar icons;
I still have many to put up in my icon corner...

Lunch made for my DH and myself.

Cashews;
Yummy tomatoes from the farmers market;
Organic Carrots.

Apples...
*
I have really been missing Ottawa today;
it is so strange to not be going back soon and seeing my
church family and friends.
*
I am very happy to be married;
weeks ago I woke from a brief nap
and did not know where I was
but I felt deeply at home
here in my new home
with my husband.
*
I love my new home and
my old apartment and it's dinginess,
smallness and rat-like maze and stress
is not missed;
but I miss walking to my church
seeing my friends
having tea and visiting my
sister-friend and my godson and his brothers.
*
I am thankful for a wonderful place to live
and that I am slowly making it a
cozy home where
peace and love can be
and prayer can be slowly uttered
even when prayer is a struggle.
Where icons can be lit, shining out hope
for us
who may feel lost at sea.
*
For this I am deeply thankful.

God is with us

A rose from my parent's garden.
I think when I look back at
this summer I pray
it will be with joy
but I think it will also be
with the sense that everything is
one big blur of events.
Joyful but tiring.

Continued Progress

Wedding invite picture chosen.
Cater change happening for
wedding reception.
Marriage preparations continue.
I am down South a few more days
before returning
God willing to Ottawa
for a few short days
before going home to Michigan.
*
This time is good;
very full.
I feel like I don't have a lot of time
for introspection or reflection
but we met this priest today
who was really wonderful
and I could sense the peace of God
with him.
And we went to a beautiful church
that I felt I could just be small
and quiet and be cradled by
the walls...
*
The Lord is my portion
and He is giving me what I need
one day at a time.
