{adventures in quilting} ~ first freehand quilting!

I got out all my new fabrics to show my
quilting friend!

She taught me about new presser foots and
how to freehand quilt!
The middle presser foot above is the one to use,
and I must remember to put the 'feed dogs',
the metal jagged lines under the presser foot on the metal plate
down so that they are not grabbing the fabric!

My friend showed me how to do it
and made the above beautiful pattern!

Then I tried! LOL! I had fun and she was
telling me things as I was doing it,
including, keep the speed up but slow down
your movement of the fabric; now you're getting it! etc.!
*
It was fun and I look forward to more practice!
It was the first time I quilted instead of just sewing!
*
I look forward to more of this in the future!

I didn't know you could do this on a regular sewing machine!! This may just motivate me to learn how to quilt. :)

Oct Rose ~ thanks!! My machine is made to be a home quilting sewing machine - so would make sure that your machine can do this too - I don't know enough about this all yet to know but my quilting friend did say my machine (I got the one she has) is one that can do home machine quilting... :)

That is a good thing to learn, Elizabeth! We have a couple of books on that subject at the library, and I'm often looking at them - someday!

Cool! That's something I haven't been able to do (don't have the right tools on my sewing machine) but one day I want to try it!
