8th Day of Christmas ~ St Basil's Day

Today was Saint Basil's day! We had liturgy and then the blessing of the bread dedicated to St. Basil. Nuns from a Greek Monastery made the bread! Isn't it beautiful? After this we had a very moving service with Akathist to Martyr Varus.  This was part of our memorial service for a newly departed loved who was related to someone at our church.

I had a good day today.

However, I had an unexpected grief that happened. That is not my story to tell. But it is something that I will have to work through and with God's mercy I will.

I'm very grateful for the things I was able to get yesterday. I was able to work on my writing project early this morning and feel that I had a breakthrough with it. It was a real gift right from God.  And I got to use my cute new blank page sketchbook with the flowers on the cover. So I'm very grateful for that. It's going to give me something to work on. That will give me joy and it's something that's a little lighter in topic.

I realized with thanks of many comments on my blog recently that I must keep the 12 Days of Christmas.  Part of that is rest. I'm reading the novel I blogged about yesterday. I'm trying to rest up. This week has been very busy and tomorrow and Friday are my only days home.  I will finally have some time alone. Which I really need because I have some things that need to be worked through in terms of grief. Including the loss of Aunt Gert.  It is so easy to want to just ignore grief but it will only be healed from it if you go through it.

I'm so grateful for this day.  May God have mercy on us.

Happy St Basil's Day! I missed the feast this year so I missed the bread, too. Those loaves are truly beautiful.
