Rublev's Trinity

In Church I have learned of the horrors that Rublev (the Icon painter) lived through.
A world invaded, villages destroyed, immense cruelty.
In my reading, I have come across someone saying that this Icon is the one of the best arguments for revealing God's existence.
What inner spiritual riches Rublev shows
in the midst of what appeared to be a living hell
as it is often phrased today.
It is this understanding of the Trinity
of Christ being in our midst
that is needed.
Christ with us.
When I was overcome with sickness in the middle of the night
while talking to a dear brother
that I became aware of what it can be like
God suffering alongside.
God in the Trinity is with us.

Wow, what a beautiful post. Rublev's Trinity was one of the very first icons I got (from my Godsister when she visited Cyprus, where she ulitmately moved) and I am blessed to think of her when I see it.

I am blessed to have a spiritual Father who teaches us in church about this...

what a blessing to have such a wonderful Godsister!

Wow, also! It is only recently that I have encountered this icon through Paul Evdokimov's reflections on the space in the foreground. This opened something very new for me about the Trinity.

I have long wanted to have this icon at home. Maybe that will be my Christmas present to myself :)

I am so glad to know that you had someone to talk to in the middle of the night. That is a blessing. And this icon should also be added to our home!

Thomas and I bought this icon for ourselves before we were married. I just gave a copy to a young protestant friend who was married on the weekend.
Henri Nouwen has written a piece on this icon which had a huge influence on me before I became Orthodox

K - yes! I am feeling the need for it in my house as well...

RW - i am still amazed that there are married couples who buy icons. and of course i know many such couples. however, it is always an encouragement to me.

was Nouwen's piece in one of his books?
