For months,
from Lent 2014-August 8, 2014
I worked on this lap blanket.
I thought so much of how
each piece was knit and then sewn together,
just like when we get married and lots of
things are knit together ~ families joined, friends,
a new home created, a kitchen, a life.
Not all pieces are equal,
but they are all needed, and all gathered up
with 4 other corners and sewn together,
ends woven into each other,
colours merging.
I used this yarn: Vintage Chunky by Berroco.
I love these yarns.
The blanket has a good weight to it,
perfect for cold Canada winters in
the East of Canada.
Two shades of red, a blue/green called 'Tide Pool'
and a lovely rich grey.
I prayed and thought of my friend in those
months leading up to her wedding.
I remember going to presanctified liturgies on
Wednesdays during Lent,
knitting her blanket squares to and from church.
I was working on this blanket at the same time
as the sunshine blanket
and as her wedding approached,
I spent more and more time on it.

The three sides are pretty much done evenly,
the last side has a bit of a slant to it,
as I did not have time to make up squares to even it out.
But I know that is Okay!
It's kind of like life, we don't always have time
to get everything perfectly in line or even.
But the gift is complete.
It has four colours that are 'her colours' and
it is warm in look and in actuality.

now a newlywed:
Enjoy your time.
Enjoy the warmth of the blanket come winter,
Always remember that your friends love you and
that God will always cover you with His love.
I am thinking of you one day I hope reading
one of your Elizabeth Goudge novels while
the blanket is keeping you warm on a
cold winter's day.
