Last Week included a special NYC Day

I met with a dear friend in NYC who I knew only in the blog world.

We went to The Cloisters.  It was so lovely and beautiful.

I will be quite busy in the next weeks so probably will write again on the otherside of August.

garden fruits

We are watering a neighbours plants and got some produce 😊

I don't have tons to say.

I have been working on my writing project. It's not easy.

I am still adjusting to a lot of changes.

Next week I hope to be in NYC.

We have family visiting in later July and early August so if I don't write please know that I am OK.

My Husband got a new ceiling fan in the office with bright light. Great for his office as he still works from home a lot.

I don't love bright lights but I am glad he has them.

I had a great talk with my cousin H and was touched to realize how much she cares and was worried about me when I lost my memory.

I am trying to practice thankfulness.

There is always so much to be thankful for and to learn  🙏

God’s Eye

This enjoyable blog post on a lovely (now extinct) bird is worth reading! The author reminded me of this song:

"His Eye is on the Sparrow"

And the same day my Husband sent me this article that includes:

"Civilla Martin describes the context out of which the hymn was born: “Early in the spring of 1905, my husband and I were sojourning in Elmira, New York. We contracted a deep friendship for a couple by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle—true saints of God. Mrs. Doolittle had been bedridden for nigh twenty years. Her husband was an incurable cripple who had to propel himself to and from his business in a wheelchair. Despite their afflictions, they lived happy Christian lives, bringing inspiration and comfort to all who knew them. One day while we were visiting with the Doolittles, my husband commented on their bright hopefulness and asked them for the secret of it. Mrs. Doolittle’s response was simple: ‘His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.’ The beauty of this simple expression of boundless faith gripped the hearts and fired the imagination of Dr. Martin and me. The hymn ‘His Eye Is on the Sparrow’ was the outcome of that experience.”

The next day she mailed the poem to Charles Gabriel, a famous composer of gospel songs, who wrote a tune for it."

My Husband emailed this to others and my Mother said that this song has been very special to her because January 21, 197-? a classmate from her Bible College was walking back to school after Sunday church and was hit by a car and died. There was a soloist who sang that song in the service she had just left and he sang it at her funeral. She was 18. I commented to my Mom that I have heard it said that God takes the young because they are ready … but of course it is hard for those who are left.

I love that God is with us in the hard times too. And I really appreciated your comment, two mentions of this song in 1 day, then my Mom’s story makes 3 so God is certainly telling me something :)

May God have mercy on us all 🙏
