{sewing adventures} ~ beloved skirt repaired!

Back in June I had a run in with a NYC escalator.
My skirt, well, the bottom part of it,
was sucked underneath it.
A Kind NYC Security Guard rescued me.
I was crying; it was quite shocking and most of the NYC
women were passing me by saying things like
just rip it out... um, while the escalator was still moving!
(I was at the bottom of the stairs by then). Crazy.
Thankfully my Smart Phone and IG came
to the rescue, as in many friends supported me
while this event was unfolding.
*
I was determined to fix it myself;
but I had a lot of help; Willfulmina and family provide
cutting of fabric, navy thread and my quilting friend
showed me how to rehem it,
tucking the ragged edge under twice so that it
would not show when I hemmed it.
*
The fabric was really difficult to pin;
the pins would slide this way and that, with the
slippery wrinkled fabric... patience won the day however!

It's now slightly shorter but still comfortable,
wearable and back in the closet rotation!
I am so thankful that it was salvageable!
And I am going to be much more careful in the future....
