It was good to be in church...
And then home again... long nap, so needed...
I got this buffet decorated tonight, my Husband helped with
+Patrick's lamp and it all looks great now.

I hope to visit L. in hospital tomorrow;

So many suffering.

May God have mercy on us!
Elizabeth, I've been curious about those pictures above your buffet. Are they embroidery, or crewel work? And, if so, did you make them? They are really striking and I've long wondered about them.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing crewel and no! I am not so talented. The one with the big flowers in the large rectangular picture was either by my Husband's +Aunt Jane or Grandmother; the two small round ones were done by +Patrick's Mom we are guessing, they were in his house when he died and he lived in the house he grew up in with his parents, who preceded him in death. The oval piece my +Aunt Karen gave me when she was still alive and it was the wedding gift to her and my Uncle from my Great Grandmother, my Dad's Mother's Grandmother so his brother's Grandma and my +Aunt Karen's Grandmother-in-law. I love them all very much! We have 2 more unframed from +Patrick's house that someday we hope to frame! These projects take us a long time for various reasons. I love the 4 I have now and they are all very precious to us esp with the history behind them!
ReplyDeleteI thought they were probably crewel work. Thank you for explaining all of that, Elizabeth! I love hearing the history behind such things. How wonderful to have these beauties made by the hands of people you know (and who belong to you). :) The different pictures all go together so well - amazing that they were made over the years and by people in different places! I do understand about it taking a long time to get things framed. I have, so far, only had one thing I've made professionally framed. I have visions of some others being framed in the future, though. ;^) We'll see! If you ever feel the desire to take close ups and show them, I'm sure we'd all love to see the details in them. Or perhaps you've done this in the past? Thanks again, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteAt some point I will try to do this Becki! Yes, very special 💕💕💕💕
