About today....

My husband is really sweet.
With various things (including the Feast of the Ascension of Christ) going on,
I was not able to clean like I had hoped and frankly was overwhelmed by it last night.
So what did he do this morning?
He got a start on the dishes and got them to a point where it was not as messy.
Then I finished them after he went to work.
I really appreciate my sweetie and how thoughtful he is!

So, got groceries delivered.
My cousin H and her son W are coming DV
beginning of July...
I am now stocked with good food that is easy to prepare,
frozen things.... one of the things I love about hospitality is how
we offer things according to the person you are with...
***
I am also relearning again the phrase:
"perfect can be the enemy of the good" by stocking up on some
pre-made things, including 'guilty pleasure' tater tots for a brunch party I am
hosting DV in a week, frozen crepes and a simple egg bake recipe that I can do the day of...
***
I got 2 mangoes by mistake in my grocery box.
And I had bought some pre-frozen baguettes for later, for nice meals
and 3 of the 4 were broken by the time they arrived, so
I got refunded for those 3.
Our freezer and fridge is well stocked right now...
****
I am excited to have people over...
I think I am so into creativity and the depth of things, the art of it,
that I can forget that one can whip up a wonderful feast without having tons of
energy or time to do so.

I am slowly reading CS Lewis' letters.
1916. He's reading, living in a house, and loving all the right books,
and the beauty of a book well bound.
I can read 2 pages and feel so rested.
I don't know how it will read when it is later in his life, but
I am loving the innocence of his youth and how he is loving good books
and classical music.

  3. It's always heartwarming to hear about husbands thinking of doing these little things that mean so much!
