Time and Schedules ~ finding ways to have peace in the midst of incessant demands

I've been thinking on and off about
time, schedules and how we can manage
the stress of living today...
*
Even though my schedule I made looks good as it were,
as in simple and light,
things never are as easy as they look on paper...
*
And things come up and change our plans
so quickly and we are still always feeling behind...
*
I am pondering these two posts
that are very profound on this topic...
here and here
and I have this book on audible to listen to.
*
What wisdom have you found over the years
in working with life's often
incessant demands?
Would love to hear!

  1. Dear One, the best advice I can give is to start each and every day (no matter how busy or chaotic it might be at that point, or is expected to become) with prayer, even if it is only the briefest prayer imaginable.

As I walk towards the icon corner each morning, I find myself praying " Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who hast created and redeemed us and hast brought us to this present day."

  2. Yes, a prayer is helpful when you're starting to feel out of control. After all, it wouldn't be good if we were in control - God's plans are always different from our own. Still, we need to try and keep order in our lives. I am still struggling with this, but I try to just pick up at the best point after things settle. I know in my mind what I hope to do each day, and as I go along I will just do the next most important thing (because I seem to always/often have more planned than is humanly possible to do in a day!) Just try to work peacefully and with focus.
St. Frances of Rome was once interrupted while reading a holy book five times by her husband; the fifth time she went back to her reading and the letters on the page were in gold (have I told you this before? sorry if I have) Anyway, she must have been very patient! So, take your interruptions as if God was the cause of them. (I give advice I should keep myself!)
The Blessed Mother know how to help. :)

  3. prioritize. I also think being less stressed comes with aging. I hope that you can find a rhythm that works with you and your husband and family. It's hard striking a balance.

  4. I find I actually get more done, when I have something else that comes up...and can get 2 things done! Or at times, I will drop something that isn't at top priority, like laundry, we have enough clothes to last a full week...I can wait a few days and do it another day. ♥ Lovely sunny flowers!
