{Around the House} ~ progress and continued effort

We finally got a shelf for above the kitchen
sink a few weeks back...

The bare wood in front will be stained at a later
time...for now I am just glad to get this up
and to have my beloved
icon of the Theotokos, Virgin of Vladimir,
up in my kitchen...
such a sweet and most-loved icon!

This is what my kitchen looks too many times
during the week...
it's a constant effort to keep things from being cluttered!
So much of our lives is full of the routines
of clutter / cleaning / trying-to-keep-clutter-from-happening
and clutter again...
*
At least God and the Mother of God are with us
no matter what our kitchens look like...

  1. My kitchen table is the same. One end is for eating/school the other is my sewing area, so it's very easy for 'things' to take over.

  2. I ♥ the blue and white pitcher and sugar....and also bright red tea kettle! Our refrigerator is also covered in magnets and a calendar and pictures. I would like to clean it off, but when we did to wipe it down with the Mr. Clean magic erasers & I commented on how nice it looks empty, they disagreed with me and put everything back on!!!

    1. Elizabeth,

I think I recognize that pattern, it's Blue Onion by Wedgwood. I've seen it at replacements.com I too love beauty in dishes, I've got more China patterns than a single person has any right to, but...they're soooo pretty!! (I really have trouble with that whole not coveting thing)

  6. Yes, the one above the sink. I have four soup bowls and a similar pattern for plates. They're so lovely.

    1. I'll have to troll replacements.com for Blue Heritage, but my mom has ordered me not purchase any more china, crystal or vintage glassware (but I scored some great Anchor Hocking glassware a few weeks ago) Is there a self - help group for people like me? (Hi, I'm Nancy and I'm a dishaholic)
