I recently blogged about this
I am basing it off of this pattern
but realized that I want it to be entirely done in
seed stitch and I will not stick to the number of
rows per colour.
I am naming my version of this Afghan
Comforting Seed Stitch Afghan.
I think the two smaller stripped lap blanket that I have
in my living room on arm chairs my Oma knitted in
seed stitch. So it is comforting to me to
be making something like what my Oma has made.
And I find a good blanket to be full of
good comfort.
I've tried it on a size 9 and size 7.
The red is 9 and grey is 7.
The third knit in there is my simple
wash cloth that I can do anywhere,
including in NYC and on the PATH train...
I think I like the slightly tighter weave of the 7.
I love this red.
I will probably frog it and add to the grey blanket...
I am finding the reading of Saint stories to be really comforting
and peace giving, so I've been dipping into this book
over breakfast...

What have you been reading and creating?
Yarn Along with us!
The cranberry red and blue-grey combination is very cosy! I look forward to seeing this take shape :)
ReplyDeleteI am proud of you for the seed stitch. I have issues all the time with it!! Press on my friend!
ReplyDeleteA seed stitch can be aggravating, Elizabeth - you're going back and forth, back and forth. I love the look of it, though.
ReplyDeleteI love how you've swatched a bit before committing, I need to do that more often. I always have to have a dead simple small project for the travel anywhere days!
ReplyDeleteDo you knit English or continental style? My mom holds the yarn in her right hand and she hates seed stitch! But I hold it in my left and don't find it bothersome at all. :)
ReplyDeleteI think those two colors would look lovely together. What is the pretty triangle in the top of the photo?
Hi Oct Rose ~ / Rosemary ~ :) ~ Continental I think. The way they do here in the US. I am I think holding the yarn in my right hand; it does not bother me! sometimes my hand gets tired but then I go do something else! :) I am thinking of adding a blue in as well. I am loving it so far!!! :))))))
