Tonight I wore black and a purple shawl/scarf around my shoulders.
Tomorrow the reversal: white from head to toe, perhaps with my pink shawl / scarf around my shoulders...
I hope to be making my first Pascha bread called Paska (not the kind with cheese in it).
But these things are nothing compared to Christ's glorious resurrection!
The clothes, Pascha baskets and feasts pass away...
Christ's tomb becomes the Bridal Chamber,
we must go to meet Him there in His glorious resurrection!
I think of you all gathered there at church tonight and wish you much joy! I can see that life-giving mural-icon of Christ over the tombs...
ReplyDeleteHallelujah!
a glorious and joyous Paschal weekend to you my friend!
ReplyDeleteE-H thank you! yes, I am looking forward to Pascha; somehow I feel in shock, hard to believe it is already here...

ReplyDeleteHe is Risen indeed!
Hi Elizabeth, I'm a friend of Tamie's and I hopped over here to check out your blog.
ReplyDeleteI was particularly struck by this:
"Christ's tomb becomes the Bridal Chamber, we must go to meet Him there in His glorious resurrection!"
Yes! See, this is why Orthodoxy is so cool. It always surprises me with new metaphors and ways of looking at God. I had never heard that one before. The West could learn a lot.
Hi Eric,
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment. Yes, much learning to be done! I really appreciate the book _Light from the Christian East_ which explains a lot about Orthodoxy and is written from someone in the West for the West.
thanks for visiting!
